Using silence in tracks is often overrated. When writing a track, we constantly need to compare the loud parts to the quiet parts to know that the loud parts are loud. Think about it- when staring at Instagram on your phone (without dark mode), you are less likely to squint than if you're watching a film where there is a dark scene and it slowly fades to white- in essence, the white contrasted with the dark makes it seem a lot brighter, even if it is just as white as Instagram. I'm really bad at making points but what I'm trying to say is that every musician should be incorporating silence into their tracks more. I am guilty of not doing this enough. I often make tracks as loud as I can throughout. Because I use so much clipping I can often get away with it but I have a feeling that if I kept my quiet parts quieter, then my loud parts wouldn't have to be so loud because we would perceive them as loud compared to the quiet parts. Food for thought.
I think i'm gonna make a track now and i'll use a lot of silence to see how it goes. I've actually noticed that one of my favourite artists and good friend GLASSPVCK uses a lot of silence in his tracks nowadays. I think it's really clever and people should use it more often for sure. Maybe i'll make it sort of riddimy and see how that goes.
I also just want to wish everyone a great day today and make sure you spend it doing what you love because you got one chance to do the things you love and this is it.
Goodbye everyone! Oh and some CRAZY big announcements coming up!
